Title: cast of the broken upper leg was removed
On December 1, 2005, veterinarian Dr. Odette Doest removed the
cast of the broken upper leg and discovered that the leg has
healed completely. A full report from Dr. Doest as well as a
digital photo by Wendy is pending for posting in this blog.
The bird is now undergoing physical therapy twice per day of
the entire leg that was in the cast to regain its strength and
full mobility. This morning the bird devoured a meal
consisting of 3 water beetles, two 6 centimeter long brown
lagadishi reptiles, and it is still busy tearing up a one 7
centimeter long Tilapia fish. The bird was observed sitting
silently on the side of the 3 foot long by 1 foot wide live
food water tray before attacking the fish with one quick and
swift strike with its beak, and hauling it by its tail out of
the tray.
